A three-day course: A thorough opportunity to create straightforward applications using Microsoft Visual Basic Professional. Delegates will also be able to develop and maintain systems using the core features of Visual Basic.

Who should attend

This course is designed for potential Visual Basic programmers or those wishing to create applications using the Visual Basic language.

Practical work

Each delegate will carry out various practical exercises during the course, which involves them working through examples of each subject covered, or build a program to help them understand the subject.

Pre-requisites

Prior knowledge of Visual Basic or any other programming language is not essential. However, a basic understanding of programming methods and some exposure to basic VB code (for example application macros in VBA) would be an advantage.

A three-day course: Covering using the power of Visual Basic for Applications to automate Microsoft Access databases making them easier for your end-users to operate.

  • Declaring Data Types
  • Commands and Statements

  • Controlling program flow using If..Then..Else, Do..Loops and For..Next Constructs

  • Programming Access forms and controls
  • The input box and the message box
  • Programming the database and associated objects
  • Using For Each..Next and With..End With Constructs
  • Examining the Object Model with the Object Browser
  • Integrating Access with other Office programs
  • Using error handling and debugging code

Who should attend

This course is designed for Access developers or those wishing to use Access database files from other Microsoft Office applications.

Pre-requisites

Prior knowledge of Visual Basic or any other programming language is not essential although a basic understanding of programming concepts would be an advantage. However, delegates would require an understanding of Microsoft Access at least to the level covered by our Beyond the Basics course.
